| | Re: vista problem Google the error code: http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=80070490 You may be able to find elaborate instructions from Microsoft Support to reset permissions and redo the WU agent, which most people report didn't work. Generally, an in-place Vista upgrade did work: Quote: > 1. With Windows Vista running, insert the Windows Vista CD/DVD. 2. Run > Setup. 3. When prompted, select Upgrade. 4. The process takes a LONG time. Windows Vista CD/DVD, then you could contact Microsoft Support: https://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx "PEL" <pel@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3B432156-B41E-44DB-B54E-467DF1D0DDB1@xxxxxx Quote: >I have vista buiness, but recently i have a strange problem, vista seems to > have lost all my windows updates and all my downloaded files, including my > windows mail, but strangely i can see all my files and e-mails if i go in to > my computer then to my c: drive but its all been put under a different name? > very strange.worst of all i cannot update my computer in windows update,my > system will not even let me update manually,it keeps saying this update is > not required for my system,in windows update i get an error message saying: > WINDOWS CANNOT SEARCH FOR UPDATES. > ERROR CODE : 80070490. > > aPART FROM THIS MY PROGRAMMES WORK OK > Also my restore points have vannished. > > could do with some help please!! > > pel |
