Vista - Verizon Fios and Windows Media Center

When I tried to set up the the Verizon Fios tv signal in WMC I got a message
that I need a IR receiver and the IR Hardware is not Detected. What does
that mean and where do I get those items? Verizon did not understand WMC and
how to make it work with their set top box.

I got the IR cables with my HP computer - i think radio shack may have them. However, even with the IR cable I can't get WMC to recognize the FIOS set-top box. I can't get the correct TV Guide either. Anyone know if there is a patch for this?
