| | vista can't copy large files? another XP file-copy bug? Can anyone else confirm this for me: the only references I find online refer to known bugs in XP, not Vista. Pulling a 3.18gb file over a wireless network (speed is not an issue) from a linux SMB share, I recieve "Error 0x800705AA: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" There's 40gb free on the destination disk, plus a spare core to handle the copy, if needs be (based on previous copy performance...). A 3gb file is created on my desktop, locked, then removed when I dismiss the error message. I tried to notify Microsoft of this problem, but it seems they want me to pay another $92 dollars to tell them they left their pants down. Amazed that on Vista, your 30 days of technical supports begins *when you activate*, rather than when you actually need it. Bear that in mind, and don't activate any new copies until a bug shows up! |

Hi Dave, check out 'insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service - OSNN Forum' (http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=92437) It explains the error and provides an alternative way to copy the file, regards Steve -- Steve Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| | Re: vista can't copy large files? another XP file-copy bug? Steve, But I must comment and say that it is rediculous. To copy a 'large' file over the network SHOULD NOT require users to use another program such as XCOPY/ROBOCOPY (command based) or even th Robocopy GUI. What is the point of "Windows Explorer" if it can't even handle copying a file over the network?
