Your monitor could just plain be bad...try another one

It could be elctrical interference from a nearby appliciance. But is more likely the monitor itself. Try plugging in a different monitor to see if the problem goes away.

Re: lines on my computer

Probably a hardware failure which would need servicing by a qualified
technician.

Or perhaps a bad cable/loose cable connection. If this is a desktop, try using
a different monitor cable and/or making sure the connections are properly seated
and secure.

Let me add a caution. Unless the monitor is particularly new, or large
and expensive, it seldom makes sense to service it. It will probably
cost $75 US or so just to have someone look at it. It usually makes
more economic sense to treat a monitor as a throwaway item, and just
replace it if it's having a problem.

Yes. If that doesn't fix it, I would recommend borrowing a friend's
monitor to see if it makes the problem go away. If it does, replace
the monitor.

Though a monitor would not usually be economically repairable...
I sure hope you meant "throw away" in the figurative sense.
The proper thing to do is to drop a defective monitor off at a recycling
center.

Re: lines on my computer

Hi,

Sounds like electrical interference from something else on the circuit.
Things like flourescent lights or motors can cause these symptoms.
