Re: registry problem

32 bit or 64 bit Operating system?
Which corrupt registry keys are you trying to get rid of?

CCleaner is a free system cleaning tool that has a registry cleaner in it.
You could also try Wise Registry Cleaner (free) or a trial version of Tuneup
Utilities 2007.

Re: registry problem

That's not really enough imformation for anyone to help
you, but it sounds like the error is probably relating to
a COM listing in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. A listing there
may be pointing to a "COM server" file that's not present.
That's not "corruption" in the Registry, though. Usually it
means that you deleted the files of a software program
when you should have gone through Add/Remove Programs
to get rid of it. Since it wasn't properly uninstalled (or if
it's crapware it may not have allowed uninstall) its Registry
entries never got removed.

So the question becomes: Which is the error - the
invalid Registry entry or the missing file? If something needs
the file then you'll need to find a replacement copy and leave
the Registry alone. If you intended to get rid of that file but
didn't properly uninstall, then the entry in HKCR is an "orphan"
that can be deleted but will do no harm if left there.
