System Restore problem

I've tried restoring my HP laptop a few times with System Restore using
different checkpoints and the same error message comes up afterward.
______________

System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files
and settings were not changed.

Details:

An unspecified error occurred during System Restore.

You might want to try System Restore again and choose a different restore
point.
_______________

As I said, I've tried using a few different restore points but this just
comes up again afterward. I can't find anything addressing this problem; can
anyone help me?
Thanks.

Re: System Restore problem

Or from command prompt at boot if it still fails from the Safe Mode GUI. I
had a similar problem with SR too.. it was 3rd party software that caused
the restore failure.
