Joining Vista to 2003 Business Server Domain

When attempting to join a vista machine to an established domain I receive
the following error.
“Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following
occurred:
An attempt to resolve the DNS name of the DC in the domain being joined has
failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that
can resolve DNS names in the target domain.”

What configuration setting is needed to allow Vista to find and join the
domain?

Re: Joining Vista to 2003 Business Server Domain

Is this Small Business Server 2003. There are some updates for both Vista
and SBS 2003 that need to be installed.

It sounds like you may have the DNS settings on the Vista client set wrong
as well. To join a domain the client has to be using an AD integrated DNS
server.
