RE: Windows Explorer

I have the same problem. What on earth was wrong with XP? How do I fix this?
Is anyone at Mircrosoft looking at this problem? Please advise of a fix..Even
when I do get an answer the fix is not available...this is very frustrating

Re: Windows Explorer

Is heshell.dll (HHD Software's Hex Editor) on your system? Why? What do
they say about this? It looks like this is a pretty common crash, which
implies that there's probably a bug they would want to look at.

Re: Windows Explorer

I am having problems with this as well. I have used the System File Checker tool which tells me there are corrupt files which it cannot fix. I have also tried to install Vista on top of Vista via the Upgrade option, but it comes up with a couple of errors at the install stage and won't complete. Am I right in thinking that the only solution is a clean install? Please tell me otherwise!!

Re: Windows Explorer

Thanks very much Zachd, this appears to have fixed my issues - I did have
HHD Hex Editor installed. Only a short time test, but usually by now, I
would have had an Explorer shut down (or a few even).

Re: Windows Explorer

When you had it installed, what did you specifically do that caused this?
That'd be interesting since it could provide the data needed to reproduce
the issue and maybe get them to fix it, which would help everyone else
afflicted. =)

Re: Windows Explorer

I am not aware of anything particular with regard to HHD Hex Editor. I
installed it a few weeks ago to enable me to edit a couple of files and just
left it installed. I had not actually used the Hex Editor in the past (say)
4 weeks. Also, I wasn't aware that my Windows Explorer issues coincided with
the installation of the Hex Editor either - I seem to think the Windows
Explorer issues started a wee while after I used Hex Editor. Sorry I can't
be more helpful.

Re: Windows Explorer

What's your specific fault data from the Problem Reports and Solutions
center?
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
can help you look this up if you don't know how.

Since even a single character difference in that data can mean something
entirely different, it's probably not the same exact problem, and thus
*your* specific data would be needed to maybe figure out a solution. =)
