Removing Vista from Dual boot

I installed Vista Home Premium as dual boot.
WinXP Home on partition 1 and Vista on Partition 2.
How do I remove the Vista OS without affecting the XP OS.
Can I just delete the Vista Partition? If so, how do I remove
the boot files on the first partition?
Both OS's are retail/boxed version.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks...Dave
