Epson Printer drivers

HI a friend of mine has just bought anew computer with windows vista
home on it. She has a Epson Stylus Photo PX 425.
I have checked the Epson site for suitable drivers but all they have
is drivers for the scanner side of the printer.
I have searched for information with regards to this problem and the
only info found was that when you do updates it will download the
required drivers. Well did the update and it still does not see the
printer as a printer. Can any body tell me how to over come this
problem
Thanks

Re: Epson Printer drivers

Have you tried using the Add Printer Wizard (Control Panel > Printers) and
use a driver closest to your printer?

Hi yes I have tried this and it does not seem to work. I have tried 3
Epson printer drivers and I now have another problem. When I try to
remove them it says it has but the are still shown in the printer
information window, how do I get rid of them.

Re: Epson Printer drivers

To get rid of a Printer just go into the Control Panel. There is a option
right with the Printer Options to remove a printer. That should remove them
easily.

Sadly I had a Epson that I was using with XP but the Vista driver are poor
and did not work correctly. I ended up getting rid of the Epson since their
driver support was so poor. Even after contacting them there was no
positive results.

Re: Epson Printer drivers

I had the same problem with an HP Photosmart 7350, HP released drivers for a
lesser printer but that disabled the card readers on the 7350. After 5
months of waiting for Vista Drivers, HP announced they would not be
releasing them! HP 7350 now in the garage and am using a Lexmark X5440
wireless printer - which works great!

RE: Epson Printer drivers

I have a CX5400 printer. Tried to get the driver from Epson, who said it was
given to Microsoft. Tried to find the driver but found the scanner driver,
not the printer driver. Based on the info from other posters I wonder if
there is a printer driver for this epson? I just had it fixed and don't want
to get rid of it, and all our computers are now Vista. What is going on?

Hi Barbara had the same problem with a CX425 but have solved the
problem here is what i did.

1. I did a windows vista update
2. Closed down the computer disconnected the printer usb lead and
re-started the computer
3. When the computer had finished booting up plugged the usb lead from
the printer in to the printer.
It said it had found new printer and went through the process of
installing a driver all be it for a 420 version. If you get a window
recommending you let windows vista search for a driver select yes.
All the above worked for me after many days of trying I hope it works
for you.
