    Compatibility

I have vista Basic, but it doesn't install almost anybody peripheral as mp3
player or mass storage. when i connect the peripheral to laptop, Vista
recognize the new hardware, but it goes directly on the web to search for
drivers. I'd like continue to install drivers manually as i could do with
windows xp....besides today i've tried to install a mass storage (cypress),
but i couldn't because windows update hasn't found driver, drivers on
installation cd doesn't work with vista and on the cypress' web site i've not
found drivers for vista....help me pleas, i don't buy a new mass storege!
I've bought only one years ago!

If the drivers are not compatible vista, there is no way around it.

As Mick said, there is no way around it. If the CD does not have Vista driver, and the manufacturer website doesn't either, then you're out of luck, I'm afraid.

But it sounds to me like your mass storage device (an external hdd, perhaps?) is a couple of years old, in which case the manufacturer will probably not be relasing Vista driver for it. Looks like you're going to have to buy another one...
