Location of add to favourites "create in" box

I am finding the "create in" drop down box under "Add to Favourites" very
difficult on the old eyes. It is expanded, all in a bland beige colur and
expanded. It makes trying to find the right folder as hard as the preverbial
needle in a haystack.

I gather there is no way of collapsing the menu but is there a way of
changing the colour?

And if so where is the location of this drop down box ? Its not under
users/app data etc.

Thanks in advance.
