Buffer overrun detected

Hello

When Vista starts up i get this message:
Buffer overrun detected! c<windows<explorer.exe. A buffer overrun has been
detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot
safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

What can I do?

Re: Buffer overrun detected

It sounds like you may have a virus, buffer overruns and underruns are a security flaw in alot of os.
Boot into safe mode and run a virus checker and spyware checker.

You can also look at your error logs by;

Left Click on Start Menu.
Right click on Computer and choose manage.
Click on the event viewer.
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening.
Expand the error tab.
Look for things in the last 24 hours.

Other things to check is the ram, do a diagnostic using memcheck.
Check your drivers are up to date.
List your computer specs.
Has this started happening after an update? If so try to restore to an earlier save.

Hope this points you in the right direction.
