| Linux | Re: Missing Comdlg32.ocx error Yes, I know the thread is old, but I'd put $20 on the fact that he found comdlg32.dll, not .ocx. He probably browsed to the folder, and with extensions off by default, didn't realize it wasn't the same file. That file is for old Visual Basic apps, and isn't present in XP and apparently Vista. |

| Linux | Re: Missing Comdlg32.ocx error I have two 'brand new' out of box, different model, HP laptops with XP on them. At this point all I've done is get them up to date with patches, and neither of them contains the .ocx version of that file - just the comdlg32.dll. 6.00.2900.2180 is the dll version. I wrote a simple VB program for automatically installing a certificate and VPN settings, and it requires that file. So obviously the programs didn't work on these machines. Good thing I was doing the install :/ I have had a couple other deployments that worked without a problem - but not enough to firmly say that possibly it's an HP thing. It could have been installed by some other application by a real programmer. ![]() But I'll definitely say don't expect this particular file to exist by default. |
