| | 100 % CPU usage when trying to run Windows Media Player I have a Dell Dimension E520 with Windows Vista Home Premium with 2046MB of RAM. I am using Windows Media Player 11.0.6000.6344. When trying to download a video or audio feed over the internet using WMP the CPU usage goes to 100%. Most of this is from the WMPlayer.exe at around 38%. The only way to get out of this is the close down WMP through the task manager. Any ideas on what to do? |

| | RE: 100 % CPU usage when trying to run Windows Media Player Hi trainman: I had the same problem with WMP 11 on my Dell E520. I don't know what the problem was, but I don't think you can get enough RAM into the thing to correct it. In my case, whenever I tried to format a data disk, it would shut down my AV and anti-spyware apps and freeze the computer. Also, I could not even play audio disks if I was using my word processor or my graph producing app. It would stall, stutter and eventually freeze the system and required task manager to get it to close. My solution was to download another DVD burner strictly for videos and use Roxio which came preinstalled for data disks and audio (Roxio won't open any video file in the known universe so it's useless for burning videos). WMP 11 is now just a HD space-waster that you can't get rid of. Regards powell -- PBL "Trainman" wrote: Quote: > I have a Dell Dimension E520 with Windows Vista Home Premium with 2046MB of > RAM. | | Re: 100 % CPU usage when trying to run Windows Media Player Any suggestions? I shut off my Norton Internet Security with the same results. Called my DSL provider and was told they do not do anything unique with Vista users. | | Re: 100 % CPU usage when trying to run Windows Media Player When I purchased my computer it came with MS Works 8. I had purchased Office Professional 2007 and loaded it when I received it, Could this have anything to do with anything? I also determined that the CPU also goes to 100% when I try and play any audio file with (.ASX) but it seems to play MP# just fine. "Trainman" wrote: Quote: > Any suggestions?
