validating Vista

Using a validation route through Internet Explorer the return was something
along t: validation is not currently supported for this version of Windows
or for this non-Microsoft operating system.

Will this have any consequences?

Re: validating Vista

What is validation? Are you talking about activation? If so, what build
were you trying to activate? If it is 5384 or later you should not see such
a message. If earlier, activation may now be disabled.

Re: validating Vista

I have previously noticed the same thing with Beta 2, I have not tried it
yet with Build 5472, I will try it and report back the results.

Re: validating Vista

In that case, it doesn't work yet. As far as I know WGA is not yet set up
for Vista. Why should it be anyway? This is timebombed software.

Re: validating Vista

Yes, WGA.

Aprompt appeared from Taskbar system tray area inviting me to validate this
version of Windows Vista (64 bit build 5384)

The original response was that this version of Windows cannot be validated
and here are some contact details. I smiled

Just to be sure a bit later on I took the IE validation route and reported
the message here.

My concern was not really related to the beta but to the consequences should
WGA really flag up something untoward with consequences to program or OS
updates on this computer

In Welcome Centre
- item 13 "View your computer details"
- scroll to foot of the dialogue box thingy when it opens
- Genuine Windows link leads to

Re: validating Vista

What you see is expected behavior. WGA is not yet functional for Vista. As
far as I know, WGA will not validate any evaluation software, which beta
OS's are (look at the text in the far lower right of your desktop for easy
