USB DEVICES NOT ALWAYS RECOGNISED

Hi, I have vista ultimate and sometimes when I plug in a device I know I have
installed and was working it asks me for the drivers again, I search the
local computer but it doesn't find them, I thought it was only when I plugged
the device into a different port put it seems to just be random, anyone help?

Thanks

Re: USB DEVICES NOT ALWAYS RECOGNISED

Try updating your chipset drivers, go the manufacturers website.

Re: USB DEVICES NOT ALWAYS RECOGNISED

I've got the same problem on and off but pretty much 98% of the time.
Looking for a solution quite by accident I just found in Install/Uninstall
Windows Components "Manage Removable Storage Devices" or something to this
effect. It was unchecked. I checked it but it will be about 18 hours before
I can find out if it really worked. I've got Ultimate but had it also in XP
all the way.
