| | Mic not working even after driver update Vista Home Premium I had the Vista HD Audio driver installed and updated to IDT as it is an Intel motherboard. There is not a very good manager with IDT but it says it is connected. I tried front and back jacks and every combination available. The mic does not work. I tried installing Realtek AC97 for Vista but it says it's not signed and will not accept install it anyway. I tried every permission I could think of to no avail. The mic works fine on my XP SP2 computer but not on the Vista one. Any ideas? |

| | Re: Mic not working even after driver update Vista Home Premium This is what I would try: Control Panel==>Hardware and Sound==>Sound==>Manage Audio devices==>Recording==>Highlight your Mic==>Press Set Default Button==>Configure. At this point you are more or less on your own because I do not have a mike on this machine. I did it on the other one. I am not sure all options will come up correctly if there is no physical device plugged in. Anyhow, it seems you will have to choose Set up Microphone, select an option if it is a headset mike or desktop one. An explanation is provided to uninitiated that it is a mike that stand on your desktop, beware, hit Next, Next again and you will see an instruction to read into your mike: "Peter Dictates to his computer..." It should work especially if your mike is digital, I am not sure it will work with an analogue one.
