| | Dificulty of Migration from Windows XP Pro to Windows Vista Ultima I am an user of ACT 6.0 and Outlook 2002 running in s aHP Notebook Pavillion ZE2040BR under Windows XP Pro sincronized with a IPaq HP hw 6515 smartphone. The Outlook 2002 is linked with the ACT 6.0 Databank ans with the iPaq hw 6515. Now I am involved in the dificulty to migrate to a new HP Notebook Pavilion dv2250BR with Windows Vista Ultimate. As per HP support to keep the same above feature we need to install the Outlook 2002 to keep the same sincronism with the smartphone iPaq hw 6515. I have installed in the new computer ACT 6.0 program and Outlook 2002 to keep the same operational function we had in the previous notebook. Unfortunately I am not well succeded till now. Several dificulties to run both programs in the new Notebook with Vista Ultimate. In the new computer we can not run the ACT properly and we can not link with the Outlook 2002 also. We would like to know what we can do to keep the same usual operation we had in the previous Notebook with Windows XP Pro in the new Notebook with a Vista Ultimate. |

| | Re: Dificulty of Migration from Windows XP Pro to Windows Vista Ultima Your issues are likely to be compatibility related. Microsoft Outlook 2002 is not certified to run on Windows Vista and it has been documented well in this newsgroups that you have do some things to get it working under Vista, but its not guaranteed work properly. You Ipaq is possibly in a similar situation since Vista utilizes the new Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 software to synchronize with Windows Mobile Devices and Microsoft Outlook, so you should make sure you are running at least Pocket PC 2003 on that device. For ACT 6.0, have you checked the developers website for updates or information about compatibility under Windows Vista? Have you tried reinstalling the software to see if it corrects the issues you are now experiencing? By MICHAEL: Outlook 2002 works well with Vista, except remembering email passwords. Don't look for that to be fixed, either. You'll just have to keep Outlook opened for as long as you can if you don't want to enter the password every time. http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm Does Outlook work on Vista? Naturally, Outlook 2007, the newest version of Outlook, works well on Vista. (It also works great on Windows XP.) Outlook 2003 works well on Vista as well. Both of these versions are officially supported on Vista, so if any issues arise Microsoft will offer public hotfixes or include the fix in future Service Packs. Outlook 2002: It runs, but email account passwords are not saved. After you enter the password during the first email check, Outlook will remember it until you close down Outlook. This is because Outlook used the protected storage interfaces to store passwords and these are no longer supported in Vista. Unless Microsoft decides to create a publicly available hotfix to address this, you won't be able to save passwords. Outlook 2002 is outside of mainstream support so this is unlikely to happen as it's not a critical security hole. You can use a Windows script program such as AutoIt to enter the password for you. Note that when you enter the password, the Send and Receive that brought up the password dialog may fail but future send and receives will work. Leave Outlook open 24/7 to avoid entering it frequently. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "Ailton Marcos Immezi" <Ailton Marcos Immezi@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:75790856-6CC4-4E08-8C15-5A447DC5E246@xxxxxx Quote: >I am an user of ACT 6.0 and Outlook 2002 running in s aHP Notebook >Pavillion > ZE2040BR under Windows XP Pro sincronized with a IPaq HP hw 6515 > smartphone. > The Outlook 2002 is linked with the ACT 6.0 Databank ans with the iPaq hw > 6515. > Now I am involved in the dificulty to migrate to a new HP Notebook > Pavilion > dv2250BR with Windows Vista Ultimate.
