| | Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow??? Ready boost was working using my 2gb usb flash drive, now vista tells me that my device is too slow. Why has this suddenly changed? Haven't changed any settings - I just plugged it in the other day and it says my device is too slow. How can it be fast enough to start with but now its too slow??? |

| | Re: Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow??? format the USB drive and try again... you know that you are dealing with the worse OS man has ever made, right? Don't expect vista to work rationally! | | Re: Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow??? wwhost I have seen this happen on USB flash drives before. It usually turns out that the flash drive is minimally capable for Ready Boost. Check to make sure that it meets more than just the minimum qualification for RB. It should meet at least the following. 2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K random reads and 1.75MB/sec throughput for 512K random writes. See the documentation that came with the drive or visit the manufacturers website. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "wwhost" <wwhost@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:8CE8A69E-9860-485E-8FFE-6F8EDFC1A033@xxxxxx Quote: > Ready boost was working using my 2gb usb flash drive, now vista tells me > that > my device is too slow. | | Re: Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow??? Ronnie - did you use the same slot? For some reason there are different bus speeds between slots. | | Re: Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow??? AJR Yes, on this particular system, there were only 2 USB slots. I have been recommending that when a user configures a memory stick for ReadyBoost, they plug the drive into a slot and leave it there. Making it permanent seems to avoid all of the problems. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "AJR" <ajrjdr@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uBI773YTIHA.4684@xxxxxx Quote: > Ronnie - did you use the same slot?
