| | Windows Explorer problems, 32-Bit update does not apply? My Windows Explorer stops working. I have a 32 bit system. Microsoft says I need to update and gives you the option for a 32 or 64 bit update. I have a 32 bit system, yet when I run the 32 bit system update, it says that the update does not apply, yet I am still having problems! -- Eric H |

Since the KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938979 lists the versions of the files it's going to install, it's possible to double-check against that list to verify that you have those file versions already, which thus implies that you actually already have the update applied. =) -- Speaking for myself only. I am not sure how to tell what version of the Shell file that I have, but I went and searched for some of the .dll files that are listed on the web page and couldn't fine them through windows search. I have a friend with Vista, and when he updated, his windows explorer never crashed again, and mine still does.
