Slow Vista start-up

The start-up time may be more than 30 minutes: the service "lanmanserver"
remains all this time in the state "starting" and other services and
processes are waiting to be initiated. Then all remaining processes get
running and Lanmanserver is indicated as "started"
Network access for other computers on the LAN seems also to be disturbed.

One solution found: when I disconnect my PC from the network (home LAN with
internet acces via a router 10MB/s) then the booting takes only seconds.
System: Vista Ultimate 32 bits, Intel Core Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz, RAM 3 GB.

How to speed this up without having to disconnect the network cable?...
