| | windows explorer crashes :( hi i bought a Compaq Laptop with AMD Turion 64 pre-installed with windows vista home basic. my windows explorer crashes very often. generally if he lapton has not been shut down for more than a day i.e. either it has been on for a ay or it has been hibernating, windows explorer crashes. the screen starts to blink and the taskbar makes a mirror image at the top. if i press the show desktop key the screen flashes images of all open programes, and the desktop does not show any wallpaper. if i manually maximise and then minimize all open programes and then right click once on the desktop, this problem seems to be stable, as in the flickering stops but the taskbar vanishes. on cliking the taskbar it shows itself but the battery status doesnt come. the problem finishes only if i restart. if i manually end windows explorer from task manager, i am unable to restart it. can anyone tell me the possible problem and its solution thanks |

| | Re: windows explorer crashes :( Hi, Check with Compaq for an updated display driver first, that's the most likely cause. It could also be that one of the applications you regularly use is corrupting the explorer shell. It may help to vary what you use to see if you can associate the problem with one particular application. A third possibility is overheating causing a hardware fault, make sure that fan openings are not blocked even when hibernating. You might also want to check for motherboard updates as the chipset and the system's control of fan use may benefit from one. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "issar" <issar@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B61447D1-5AA7-4FAB-B4EA-D0C5B7E83697@xxxxxx Quote: > hi > i bought a Compaq Laptop with AMD Turion 64 pre-installed with windows > vista > home basic. > my windows explorer crashes very often. > generally if he lapton has not been shut down for more than a day i.e. > either it has been on for a ay or it has been hibernating, windows > explorer > crashes. > the screen starts to blink and the taskbar makes a mirror image at the > top. > if i press the show desktop key the screen flashes images of all open > programes, and the desktop does not show any wallpaper. > if i manually maximise and then minimize all open programes and then right > click once on the desktop, this problem seems to be stable, as in the > flickering stops but the taskbar vanishes. on cliking the taskbar it shows > itself but the battery status doesnt come. the problem finishes only if i > restart. > if i manually end windows explorer from task manager, i am unable to > restart > it. > can anyone tell me the possible problem and its solution > thanks |
