Slow internet browsing

I have tried everything to figure out why vista is taking so long to access
websites on the internet. I have another machine on the home network using
XP and it does not have any problems. So I am pretty sure it is not the ISP
or DSN Server. I experience the same problem on both IE and Firefox. I
have disabled the firewall protection both in Windows and the third party
software I have and nothing changes. In looking at the status message on
the browser, the delays seem to occur while "Looking up www.xxx.com". Also,
I have to stop and refresh the page because the loading hangs up.
Its almost like something is examining the site before allowing it to
connect.
Can someone please help me as I really like Vista but this really sucks.

Thanks

Jim

Re: Slow internet browsing

Do you have the phishing filter enabled?
I am seeing similar issues,
I'm also considered turning off the checkbox for "Automatically detect proxy
settings"

Re: Slow internet browsing

FYI -
Control Panel - Classic View - Internet Options
Connections tab
LAN Settings button
uncheck Automatically detect settings
seems to have made it work better/faster
I use a wireless router and it works after restart... why...?
