How to disable 'Start Search' box on Start Menu?

and I'm the one earning below average income.

To what, then, are those 'Search...' check boxes referring?

Re: How to disable 'Start Search' box on Start Menu?

Hi,

It's more than a search box, it's also a launch pad for any application,
pages, etc., and replaces the run box used in previous versions of Windows.
That option in the start menu properties dialog is for a separate "search"
entry to appear in the right hand side of the start menu. The search line
itself cannot be disabled.

Re: How to disable 'Start Search' box on Start Menu?

That's too bad because I had been able to launch frequently used programs
with two keystrokes in previous versions of window. Now I can't. I'm so
organized that I will never need to SEARCH for something - I know exactly
where all my stuff is so I will never use that Search feature- what a shame.

thanks for the reply!

Hi Mataeux,

You could switch the Start menu to Classic view instead to get rid of the "Start Search" area.

Start Menu Classic View
