Loss of focus for speech recognition in Internet Explorer

I have Windows Vista with the latest updates, and now experience a bug
I previously have not seen. In Internet explorer the web the window
itself sometimes "loses focus" for the speech recognition. Saying the
text in a link has no effect, and when I say "show numbers" only
everything outside the web window lights up with numbers.
