SQL Server question (s)

OK, dumb questions:

'In a nutshell' what is the SQL Server?

Do I need/want it?

Is/was it a part of a normal install of Windows Vista Ultimate?

How do I get rid of it, if I can?

What else will be affected by removing it?

I appreciate someone's patience in responding!

Why would you want to? How did it get installed on your system in the first
place?

What else will be affected by removing it?
Depends on the applications you have installed, if you could list them we
might be able to give you an idea.
