Same error message here. Tried several times, and on the 5th!! retry,
it installed, and shows installed in the history. FWIW

0x8024200D
WU_E_UH_NEEDANOTHERDOWNLOAD
The installer requires more data to be downloaded

KB935509 release is a little different than past updates. It is a
prerequisite for installing SP1 and is applicable only for Windows Vista
Ultimate and Enterprise users, because it only affects versions of Windows
Vista supporting BitLocker Drive Encryption.

I'm running Home Premium, and that is offered too. I hide this KB for the
future.

Stick it in the Hidden Folder in WINUPDATE until you feel you need it -
then at least you will not keep getting pestered to install.

Good luck

Vista Home Premium 32bit

Re: software update 935509 failed to download error 8024200D

Same problem/error code with the same update here. I am running Windows Home Premium 32-bit, and when I try to download the update manually - after it has failed to install through Windows Update several times - I get the message that the update does not apply to my system, which it apparently doesn't, when I read its description.

Still, Windows Update keeps telling me that I am missing an essential update. I have hidden the Update for the time being. Hope it will not be 'unhidden' again next time I start the computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used this website 'Windows Vista Hotfixes - aaron-kelley.net'
(http://aaron-kelley.net/downloads/hotfix/) and I have manually
downloaded the fix ... all is ok now !

Vista Home Premium 32bit

Re: software update 935509 failed to download error 8024200D

Hi, thanks for all the addvice given. None worked, however.

I followed your link and arrived at this description for the update:

"Update 935509 contains an update that you must have to correctly service Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption-capable computers. This update is applicable to only the following editions of Windows Vista that include Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption: •Windows Vista Enterprise •Windows Vista Ultimate"

However, as I run Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, it doesn't seem to apply to my system. Can anybody tell me why Windows Update keeps nagging me to install it, when it will not install? Is there a way of getting rid of the update reminder (except hiding it, which I have already done)? Or if it needs to be installed after all, how to get it onto my machine?

Thanks again.

Hi
Thanks for all your help
My pc now seems to think I'm up to date with my downloads and is no longer
trying to install KB935509
Guessing microsoft has realised that it's not for vista home premium!

Thanks, hw, it's disappeared from my list of hidden/pending updates too. I wish Microsoft would stop torturing their clients like this.
