| | PARENTAL CONTROLS GONE BAD I got a laptop for my daughter and set up parental controls for her, which required me to add an me as and additional user with an administrator account, which I did. Now both my and her accounts show as standard users with no administrator, which won't allow her to perform any downloads, system changes or ANYTHING! When it ask's for permission from the admin, there is no option to allow any action. Am I missing something here, or is Vista as bad as what I've been reading. I'm tempted just to reload the OP and software and start over since the computer is only 2 weeks old. Thanks in advance |

| | Re: PARENTAL CONTROLS GONE BAD By default, Windows Vista's account settings for all accounts created in the system are Standard Administrator or limited user. It seems that maybe some settings and priviledges were blocked. I would restart the system in Safe Mode, log into the Administrator account and disable Parental Controls for both accounts. -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "trilink4" <trilink4@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:A18EBD8D-4FBE-4E7D-9A9C-CDE32CA96210@xxxxxx Quote: >I got a laptop for my daughter and set up parental controls for her, which > required me to add an me as and additional user with an administrator > account, which I did. | | Re: PARENTAL CONTROLS GONE BAD Well it seems that the accounts were changed from Admin to regular accounts. No Vista is not that bad. Have you tried booting into Safe Mode and logging into the Admin account there? If you still cant access the admin account from your user account do this: Click the Start Orb. In the search box type in secpol.msc. When that window pops up click on Local Policies. Then click Security Options. The top thing in there is the Administrator Account Turn that on. Then log off this account and log into that one. That is the hidden admin account. From here go into the Control Panel and set a password for this account and delete your old "Admin" account as it isnt needed anymore after this. Now you have the hidden admin account and all rights. You can now update the system and still have her account with the Parental Controls active. -- ~Alex T~ ..:MVP Windows Shell/User:.
