CPU load about 50% when system is idle

Hi,

I installed Vista recently and now, when I've got all updates and I've
installed few programs into Windows like Visual Studio, Mobile Device
Center, some SDKs etc, every time the system is idle the CPU load is 50%,
not exactly, but about 50%.

So I've tried to determine which process makes this CPU load. After Alt Ctrl
Delete and Task Manager I haven't got to know anything. I've installed
Process Explorer from Sysinternals. He told me process "System" makes this
high load. I've tried to "kill" process "System". Yes, load felt down. But
this isn't solution because after reboot it's the same.

Please could you help me?

Thanks Josef Donoval

RE: CPU load about 50% when system is idle

I had similar issues that appeared after I put the computer to sleep and then
after waking up it showed around 50% CPU usage. The CPU usage was around zero
when I started the computer from scratch. Finally found that the culprit was
my external USB hub (DYNEX). I removed the hub and had no more problems. I am
now using the 2 front hubs on the computer (Inspiron 530). Hope this helps.

Thank you for idea, but it don't work.

I don't have anything in my USB ports. It’s just a laptop with Lan cable
connected.

Re: CPU load about 50% when system is idle

SoundMAXpnp4.exe was giving me these issues before with my ASUS Board.
Check your processes to see if you have a particular device driver causing
the problem.
I disabled it with msconfig and the problem was gone with sound still
working just fine.
