change default behavior at shutdown

When I shutdown the computer, the default option is sleep.

How do I change it to shutdown?

thanks

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Don't have a straight answer for you, but if you are using a modern
computer, all you have to do is hit Power Button on your CPU and it
shutsdown. I don't think its working so well in 5308, although, the Shutdown
option from the pop out list beside the padlock on the Start Menu should
shutdown the PC.

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Go into Control Panel, type

power

in the Search box, click Change Power Button Behavior. I haven't actually
done it, but it looks like that's the way to go.

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Under Change What the Power Button does, it is automatically set to Shutdown
(default), so its basically doing what I suggested. Tip: You can also type
Power Options in Start menu search box and it will appear in the listings.

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Essentially both answers are right. Hit the Start orb, click the arrow
that's on the Power button and select "Shutdown".

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Thanks for the tip Andre. But I sent him to Control Panel first because when
I type "pow" or "shut" or even "power options" at the bottom of the Start
menu, I don't get a link to the power options dialog box. In fact I mostly
get links to newsgroup posts. Should I be seeing Control Panel icons in that
Start Menu search? If so, is there some setting I can change to get back to
that behavior?

Re: change default behavior at shutdown

Thanks for the input. I have a very unstable machine or things that
you describe weren't installed.

I will revisit this solution on the next version of the CTP.

thanks
