| | Re: change default behavior at shutdown Don't have a straight answer for you, but if you are using a modern computer, all you have to do is hit Power Button on your CPU and it shutsdown. I don't think its working so well in 5308, although, the Shutdown option from the pop out list beside the padlock on the Start Menu should shutdown the PC. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "David Sherman" <dshermin@ameritech.net> wrote in message news:qttv42hfokqt7lqri370ktp082c6nnh6uv@4ax.com... > When I shutdown the computer, the default option is sleep. > > How do I change it to shutdown? > > thanks |

I haven't actually done it, but it looks like that's the way to go. | | Re: change default behavior at shutdown Thanks for the tip Andre. But I sent him to Control Panel first because when I type "pow" or "shut" or even "power options" at the bottom of the Start menu, I don't get a link to the power options dialog box. In fact I mostly get links to newsgroup posts. Should I be seeing Control Panel icons in that Start Menu search? If so, is there some setting I can change to get back to that behavior?
