windows vista startup problems

When i first started up the new acer laptop i got a flashing cursor in the
top left on a black screen it then came up with disk error, i then turned the
laptop off and it started up ok running the vista set up, the laptop now
displays the flashing cursor on the top left hand corener of a blank page
when started up this can normally be resovled by turning it off and starting
up again.

Any sugegstions or advice on what can be done? its only a week old laptop
with a core2duo 1.66ghz, 2gb ram and vista home pemium

Brand-new laptop not starting up the way it should = take it back
immediately.

This is a hardware problem which will not heal itself.

Re: windows vista startup problems

Sounds like a bad hard drive. I'd take it back.
