| | Is there a bug with Control Panel : Select a power plan I have a Lenove R61 running Windows Vista. The default Plan (power plan) for my machine is something called "Energy Star", which initially is set so that the "Advanced" power setting for Wireless Adapter Settings has "Maximum Power Saving" for both "On battery" and "Plugged in". Naturally the performance of my computer sucked when it was set to "Maximum Power Saving", even though the computer is about one meter from the wireless transmitter. Thanks for that by the way. So I set the thing to "Maximum Performance" for "Plugged in". Except that every once in a while, apparently all on its own, the setting gets changed back by something in the Operating System. I don't notice for a while, until I start to think that the damned DSL is down again. Then I open my control panel and realize that, indeed, the setting for my power plan has changed without my having done anything. Please fix this. I have already had two other people newly introduced to Vista who have complained about their wireless or VoIP being much worse than Windows XP, and I tell them about the power saving options, and they make the change and things improve. But then it changes back all on its own. Not good. Really quite bad, actually. Makes me think about buying a Mac next time. |
