| | Re: Windows Vista Word converting to be read on 2003 Word Hi, Make sure you're saving as .doc and not the new .docx format. You can change the default format in the program options. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Char" <Char@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C3D13363-BA55-4D7D-A00D-8547343272A7@xxxxxx Quote: >I have a new Vista Laptop and am working creating a word document. | | Re: Windows Vista Word converting to be read on 2003 Word When you save the document, click save as and pick the Word 2003 format. The format used by Office 11 is not readable by Office 2003 unless saved in the older format. -- A Professional Amateur...If anyone knew it all, none of would be here! | | Re: Windows Vista Word converting to be read on 2003 Word You have two choices here: Saving in Word 97 to 2003 In Word 2007, click File > Save > select Word 97 to 2003 document. Install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack on Office 2003 which will make it possible to view Word 2007 .docx files in Word 2003. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...3-c6bb74cd1466 -- Andre Blog: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com My Vista Quickstart Guide: http://adacosta.spaces.live.com/blog...3DB!9709.entry "Char" <Char@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C3D13363-BA55-4D7D-A00D-8547343272A7@xxxxxx Quote: >I have a new Vista Laptop and am working creating a word document. This has nothing to do with Vista vs. some other version of Windows. 2. Almost certainly, it has to do with the different versions of Word that's installed on the two computers. 3. Do you have Word 2007 on your Vista computer? By default, that saves in the new .docx format which older versions of Word can't natively read. 4. If that's correct, you have two choices a. in Word 2007, instead of doing a Save, do a Save as, and choose the old .doc extension. b. download the compatibility pack for your work computer at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d=941b3470-3ae... or http://tinyurl.com/3xr4tt -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup |
