In Vista "search results" of start menu (Search All Results). I cannot highlight with my pointer like XP to delete duplicate folders inside my drives. Any ideas?

Re: Search and deleting files in Vista

hi, I tried that but in the file menu the select all tab is white-out so I cannot clicked on it. Tried (Ctrl+A, Ctrl, Shift to drag and select). I can only delete one at a time only but have over 7k folders.

Re: Search and deleting files in Vista

Sounds like you've got the single-select bug...

<canned>

I've written a script that helps MOST people with the multi-select problem.
It will remove single-select from saved folder views & saved defaults.
Right-click the link below & select 'Save Target As..."

http://mysite.verizon.net/res18hr7/FixSingleSelect.zip

Then extract the contents of the .zip file & run the script.

Re: Search and deleting files in Vista

thanks, keith

Worked like a charm. Is there a easier fix for this without running the script? registry hack? I sometimes cant connect to the net and the systems dont have drives.

Also I deleted the "Remember each folder's view settings" is uncheck.

Re: Search and deleting files in Vista

You're welcome. The script is a registry hack -- a very precise one.

The values found here:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...08(VS.85).aspx

correspond to the registry value named "FFlags" found under the saved folder
views in:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local
Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags]

It is the FWF_SINGLESEL flag which somehow gets set for folders when it
shouldn't. My script clears this flag for all the saved folder views, as
well as the user-defined templates found here:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Defaults]

You could certainly examine all the values one-by-one and manually edit the
errant ones -- or go for overkill & delete all the subkeys of the above,
which would wipe out all saved views. I wrote the script so that those two
options could be avoided

Re: Search and deleting files in Vista

thanks, for the tip I will look onto creating a registry file (.reg) or just editing manually for systems without drives/net.
