vista and wireless netgear card

I have a netgear wireless card for my desktop (wpn311) and only have local
access. I need internet access also. I can get on the internet when i
hardwire connect to the router, but the wireless does not work. I am only
getting local. i updated the driver software and getting the following when I
try to access netgears software.

netgearCUv2 mfc application has stopped working.

I tried deleting and removing the card and reinstalling again and again. NO
LUCK.

I feel like taking this card and jamming it Patrick Lo's behind.

RE: vista and wireless netgear card

Go to Netgear's Website and see if they have updated Vista firmware for it.
They have had probs with wireless NIC Cards since Vista came out.

Re: vista and wireless netgear card

Are you certain that the wireless segment is properly configured on your
router?
What exactly does "I only get local" mean? Does that mean you can see other
network devices, their shared files, etc., your router, with your wireless
adaptor?

Re: vista and wireless netgear card

instead of local and internet under network connection. i get local only

IPv4 Connectivity: Local
IPv6 connectivity: Limited
media state: enabled
good signal quality
info is sending on network
not receiving on network

Re: vista and wireless netgear card

So, from the window that you got this information, which does not answer all
my questions, by the way, click the details button. Do you have an IP
address? Is your router's IP listed? DHCP enabled? From Start/network do you
see your internet gateway device listed? That's your router.

Check your router's wireless setup.
