Documents folder icon restore?

So one day after a hard day at school (finals. omfg I am going to hate math
forever.) i decided to go and play Team Fortress 2 to relax. When my computer
booted up lo and behold! my "Documents" folder's icon went awol. Instead of
the blue transparent folder with a bunch of papers in it, the standard folder
icon (the empty opaque yellow folder) stood in its place. How do I get the
original icon back? Customization of the Documents folder gives no choices
for changing the icon. What do I do? It's a great eyesore.

Re: Documents folder icon restore?

I guess it could be a corrupt desktop.ini file but this solved the poblem for me:

You must know in some vista versions explorer.exe translates folders, but doesn't rename them. In my dutch version for exemple the 'documents' folder is LOOKS like it's called 'Documenten' but the ectual path is still documents.
You can find the real name by entering the folder and klicking right next to the folder name in the locationbar above. You should be able to see the full and none-translated path. You need to make sure it's called 'Documents' and not the translated version. Also the reference at: startmenu rightklick on documents, preferences, on the location tab, must and with \Documents and not with the translated version. You might run in some trubles wile renaming the folder, if there is already an other folder created to match with the reference. Make sure you don't have important files overthere and delete the folder.
If this won't work you sould try to first rename the reference and change it back.
This is how i solved the problem. Sorry for my English, I'm Dutch and not enouth educated...

*edit* sorry for bumping this treat but since i couldn't find a proper awnser for this... I wanted to sare my solution...

Re: Documents folder icon restore?

really good one! rightklick the folder select preferences, select the tab were you can change the icon of the folder. When press the right button over there, you can chose a icon in the SHELL32.DLL file, change that to imageres.dll and you can select the documents icon. Press on OK in every window. It just might work.
