| | Can't run Adobe Reader, Any version. Hi, I am trying to help my cousin who has Vista HP on a Gateway notebook. I have helped him over the phone to install & uninstall Adobe Reader 7.2, 8.0, 8.1 & 8.1.1 I have Vista Ultimate on a high end desktop and 8.1.1 runs fine on my computer. But when we try to run it . It says can't connect to a web page or something like that. Also I am trying to find another FREE PDF reader but can't find one that you don't have to pay up front for. -- Have a good day, RScotti remove "nospam" in order to email me. |

| | Re: Can't run Adobe Reader, Any version. Thanks, I went to Foxit BUT not this link and they wanted a credit card. He just installed 7.09 (not sure of the 09) from his Gateway system files some place and that version worked OK. I don't have the answer for this? | | Re: Can't run Adobe Reader, Any version. Acrobat crashed - yet again - on my so-called Family Premium Vista after a recent obligatory Windows update. I had to download 8.1.1, which works for the moment, but I was not happy because I was in a hurry and have other work to do than chasing after Microsoft/Adobe foibles. Knowing Adobe, you would not expect a particular subspecies of a version of Acrobat to work with all subspecies of Windows. Acrobat *always* gives trouble with XP, whether you're in a professional or so-called family environment. | | Re: Can't run Adobe Reader, Any version. Thanks, Although I thought it was his Gateway notebook that caused the problem since he did install that 7.xx version. That version was somewhere in his configuration. I don't know where though.
