windows mail outgoing server ports can't send email

Help! I have set up a new email on my computer which has Windows Vista, my
ISP is frontier, I am able to receive emails, but am unable to send emails
through email address. I believe it has something to do with the outgoing
port, which I've tried 25 and 587 to no avail. If someone has some advice I
would appreciate it.

Try turning off the Firewall, in Control Panel, and then trying.

If it works, you know that it is a port that you need to open for your email
software.

Hi,

Try enabling authentication. Tools/Accounts, click on your mail account,
then on properties. Enable the line "my server requires authentication" on
the server tab.

correctly?

In addition to what Rick said...the outgoing mail should start with
"smtpauth"
