Re: Catastrophic Failure

I have never tried that, but I don't it can hurt to try. I have not read
that CompletePC Backup is an optimal migration tool.

Re: Catastrophic Failure

Did it fail during the restore, or did it complete the restore, but now
fails during boot?

Re: Catastrophic Failure

It is my understanding that CompletePC Backup is only intended to be used to
back up and restore on the same pc, not for migrating/ghosting to another
pc.

Re: Catastrophic Failure

That's what I thought. WinPE would be overkill for a single box, but would
do the job using ImageX and WIM files. Anyway, there could be some
licensing issues going that route. A ghosting program and running Repair
ought to do it. Just ruminating.

Re: Catastrophic Failure

Many people dual-booting with XP can use Ghost or some other imaging
software from the XP side, if they really want an image of the Vista system
drive.

Re: Catastrophic Failure Win PE and WIM Info/Links

Good information on Win PE and Wim here:

WIM has unique ability to modify the image before installing.
