| | FTP awakes sleeping computer? A computer has Windows Vista Home Premium and File Zilla Server installed, and is set to sleep. Does it automatically wake up, when an FTP client tries to log on? Thanks in advance, Gerhard |

You'd also have to make a Scheduled Task to shut it down again afterwards if you are aiming to save electricity. You need to look into WoL and Magic Packets, if you want to do this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake-on-LAN I have a page a personal website from which I can send magic packets to particular computers on my LAN, so I can connect to them through Remote Desktop after VPN into my LAN. I got the code from here: http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/woli.aspx ss. |

So, no if some application is trying to make contact with the computer via FTP, it's not going to wake it up. |
