Favourite Links Bar Screwed Up Icons

Vista has been going fine until one day i see some of the icons in the
Favourite Links bar are wrong. Here is an example:

As you can see, the icons in the Links bar don't match the real folder
icons. Also, when i open those 'wrong' folders, the small icon in the address
bar also shows the same messed up icon as the Links bar. However, when i
click in the address bar to manually type an address, the small icon shows
the correct icon. But other than that it shows the messed up icon:

However the icons are all normal in those dialog boxes where you have to
search/choose a file, but messed up in the main Explorer.

How do i fix this and get my proper icons back. I dont like how it is
copying the icons from the other links.
I have already tried manually changing the icons for the shortcut link, and
it changes to the selected one. However when i choose the original; icon it
reverts back to the messed up one.

Please help, as this is an annoying problem.

RE: Favourite Links Bar Screwed Up Icons

There has been a development. I have sort of fixed to problem, by renaming
the icon file used for each of the messed up icons. Then i re-customized the
folders with the newly named icons (same icon though), and the Links bar
showed the correct icons.

The screw up musted have been linked to the old file names, which somehow
made Vista use the icons from one of the 'good' folders, because when the
file names were changed it got 'fixed'. Revert to the old names and it messed
up again.

I would still like t o know how this problem even occurred in the first
place, and how to prevent future occurrences.
