| Vista 64 | Re: Documents and Settings You have no reason to access it. In fact, it would be dangerous for you stored files to do so. It is known (By MS) as a junction file. Its purpose is to provide a shortcut link to the new storage files in Vista, (Users - username - Documents) for software compatibility reasons. You can gain access by altering the security onthe folder, but I would advise against it. |

I get a message of: C:\Documents and Settings is not accessible - Access is Denied How can I get access to this folder? Any help gratefully received Regards Everything of any real value to you will be stored in "C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>". If there are any hidden folders there (and there are), there is nothing in them that cannot be replaced by re-installing an application. |

| | Re: Documents and Settings it's funny that this seems to have happened to me and a few others around the same time, which makes me think that a windows update changed something? I have always clicked on photos, or music folders from within my documents with never a problem, then all of a sudded they are shortcuts and give me the access denied message as well! If there was an update I'm guessing at around 1st february 2008 this could have either changed our hidden folder settings as we now 'see' the hidden folders. or it actually changed something in our Vista OS at that time, because all of a suuden, many people get the access denied message, very intrigiung.
