| | File Icon Removal (Not a Shortcut Icon) By a process I do not recall, a couple of weeks ago I created an icon on the desktop to a set of files I had established. This icon does not have the "shortcut" arrow on it. I decided I no longer needed this icon on the desktop. I first thought I could remove it by right clicking it, properties, and then clicking delete. Unfortunately, that started deleting the files. I quickly stopped the process, and I was able to replace the ones already deleted from a backup set, but the icon is still on the desktop. How can I remove it? Thanks. -- ---------- CWLee Former slayer of dragons; practice now limited to sacred cows. Believing we should hire for quality, not quotas, and promote for performance, not preferences. |

| | Re: File Icon Removal (Not a Shortcut Icon) Hi, Sounds like a Folder on your desktop as oppose to a shortcut. If in fact is was a Folder and you delete it, everything in it will be deleted as well. Right click the icon/folder and select Properties, look for the path as in "C:\Users\YourName\Desktop Once you have the path, open Explorer and copy those files out of that folder and place them in your Documents Folder. You can then delete the Desktop icon/folder and all should be well. -- All the best, SG "CWLee" <cdubyalee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uu%2396L8ZIHA.1204@xxxxxx Quote: > > By a process I do not recall, a couple of weeks ago I created an icon on > the desktop to a set of files I had established. | | RE: File Icon Removal (Not a Shortcut Icon) You have not created an "icon to a set of files"; it is the folder containing the files! Just "cut and paste" the folder to your "Documents" "CWLee" wrote: Quote: > > By a process I do not recall, a couple of weeks ago I > created an icon on the desktop to a set of files I had > established.
