| | Vista is vexing me......please help. I am experiencing a problem that has become quite a mystery to me. I have a new Lenovo laptop that is running Vista 32-bit home edition and IE7. I have 2G of RAM. I conduct extensive searches on the web with at least two windows of IE running and at least four tabs in each window. At the same time, I web conference with up to three people at any one time. The problem I am experiencing is that when I reach a certain threshhold (about three open IE windows with approximately five tabs in each and two web conferences), the system won't allow me to open up any more IE windows when I attempt to do so. When I click on IE, nothing happens. To aggravate matters, when I close out all the IE windows, web conferences and any other programs I may have running (presumably to free up memory), I will not be able to open up ANY application or program when I attempt to do so. Sometimes, an application will open but I will experience problems with the program such as drop-down menus not working or it seems like the program only partly loads. I've ruled out a virus or spyware. I have run multiple virus and spyware scans and nothing was found. I've had the laptop for about 6 months but just recently started using it in the manner I described. I am at my wits end trying to figure out what is wrong. Any suggestions? |

| | Re: Vista is vexing me......please help. Have you tried contacting the vendor? Sounds like your machine is doing something it shouldn't be doing. On a new machine, that should be a warranty call. I'd make it if I were you. "upwest" <upwest@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:0C865B12-9904-4D72-88A4-6BFB5CD73A6E@xxxxxx Quote: >I am experiencing a problem that has become quite a mystery to me. | | Re: Vista is vexing me......please help. Already called. Lenovo customer service is horrible. They only warrant the hardware. Software support comes at a cost. I will call again to at least have one of their "experts" determine whether it is a hardware or software problem. | | Re: Vista is vexing me......please help. Lenovo has to supply you with FREE software support. They buy cheap OEM licences from microsoft; in exchange they have to do all hardware AND software support. "upwest" wrote: Quote: > Already called. Lenovo customer service is horrible. | | Re: Vista is vexing me......please help. When you buy retail you get only 2 free calls to MS, and those calls are to people who don't know how to speak English very well, and cannot help you fix vista in the first place..because its unfixable. How much better is MS from the irresponsible OEM? OEM's helping you with Windows glitches? In theory yes.. in practical matters they really offer little help.... and for very good reasons. Vista is a drain on resources.. people are having so many problems that its causing chaos frustration and disappointment. The OEM would need to quadruple their support staff only to try to offer vista support.. "it aint gonna happen". And SP1? That's a joke.. it wont fix hsit |

If are an authority on Vista resources and the RTM SP1 isn't even out yet, but you are an authority it as well, why don't you open up a FREE hotline to all the people you say can't get help. Or is that a Joke too? -- All the best, SG "fridau" <fridau@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:47a97550@xxxxxx-privat.org... | | Re: Vista is vexing me......please help. <<<They buy cheap OEM licences from microsoft; in exchange they have to do all hardware AND software support.<<< Not necessarily Mick, it depends on their EULA. For Windows, yes they are indeed and IE as it's part of Windows. He didn't say what he used for conferencing software. It may come with the system, but then again it that depends on their EULA. The Hardware is a total different subject. Some my be theirs and others by third party OEM's. Without their EULA no can say for sure what they are responsible for. -- All the best, SG "Mick Murphy" <MickMurphy@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:BDAAFE65-9FE6-4748-8C70-5B89436796F1@xxxxxx Quote: > Lenovo has to supply you with FREE software support. > > They buy cheap OEM licences from microsoft; in exchange they have to do > all > hardware AND software support. > > > > "upwest" wrote: > Quote: >> Already called. Its seems interesting..See I too have vista 32 bit and and mostly use it for conferencing with many of the clients thorugh Rhubcom's conferecing appliance but haven't heard of this browsing problems and threshold value..may be coz I use Safari beta instead of IE7 ! -- sistie23 'remote access appliance' (http://www.rhubcom.com) Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
