That's what I'm having to do too, despite considerable outlay already on new
gear. What a friigging waste of money Vista is....

Got back to XP, am running SP1 RTM on one PC and it is better, but
many basic bugs were not fixed.

Is it a fundamental problem ? I can't answer that, there wasn't much info
to go on here about your actual problem.

Re: Stay or go back?

If you have "new gear" then you have a different problem. "New gear" should
have come designed for Vista. If you have a combination of "new gear" and
"old gear" then it is possible XP may be better. Note that this isn't a
Vista thing but a new OS thing. Ask Apple PowerPC users about it. Think back
to when XP was released and how poor some Windows 98 systems worked when you
tried to upgrade to XP. Things change. Combining old and new doesn't always
work.

I did read the post. There was not enough root info. All you said were
you too were having USB driver issues. That's like asking 'my car stalls,
what's wrong with it ?'.

What type & how many USB devices ?
Onboard (most-likely) or add-in card USB ?
When does it happen ?
Are there *any* certain conditions that seem consistant ?
Did it work OK at one point ?
Does the MB mfg have USB drivers for Vista, and did you install them ?

Just basic background info.
