Vista - Programs Hanging in Processes

Hopefully a quick question.

Running Vista Ultimate 32 with an issue that has popped up in the last week
or so.

I have two programs (specifically, there might be others) that do not close
properly.
When I use the X to close Quicken 07 and Windows Media Player 11, the
program clears the screen and is no longer noted in the applications tab of
the Task Manager.

The problem is that the qw.exe and wmplayer.exe remain open and running in
the Processes tab.

For Quicken, this doesn't allow me to re-open the program until I manually
end the process. And for WMP, a video will continue to run in the background
(no visual as the window is closed, but sound continues).

I'm not sure other programs are doing the same, but these two are affected
every time.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I'm having the same problem running Vista Business. It happens with
multiple programs and is very frustrating. It's exactly as the previous
post states you close the program and it leaves the screen as usual, but
will keep the process running until you manually kill it. Some programs
will not open again while the process is still running, but I have
noticed in other programs which allow to be opend multiple times that it
will hang the same process over and over as many times as you have had
the program open. Obviously this causes performance issues.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
