The First Question of Troubleshooting: What changed between the time things
worked and the time they didn't?

More details, please. These links will help you with that:

Re: I cannot delete, rename and move files and folders anymore

I bouhght my laptop recently. It is an asus W7s, intel core duo T7300, with
1535 mb ram. My vista home premiumis is an oem and 32 bit. I associate the
problem I tried to repot with two points: I downloweded big size .rar file
from my adsl wirless lan internet, I used a broken friend of mine's usb pen
drive. I scanned my pc from malawere and viruses using an avg freedtionsion
anti-virus - anti malaware and it is ok. I also delete the cash and all dirty
files. I defragmented as well.
But nothing appens!
Now I try to describe in a better way what happen when I try to move a file
form a folder to another: a window opens and say pc is calculating time to
realize the movemente, but rather calcurates the window remains open untill I
use ctrl+alt+del. When a try to delete a file o to empity the waste-box a
windows opens saying the recycle is on going and thar residual tims is beeing
calcuating. When i try to rename a file i can write the name of the new file
but when i press enter the window crash (i mean that all remain still untill
ctr+alt+canc)
I look up on the web to look for similar problem and the only stuff i found
is about a problem with an installing official released KB938979 update.. but
even the patch this mydigitallife.info website propose diden't work.
Thank you to trying helping me..

I'm not convinced your computer is clean, depending on what the "big
size .rar file" was. For instance - and I don't want to know - if it were a
pirated movie that you needed a peculiar codec for and you then installed
that codec (most usually not a codec but a virulent trojan) then.... And
scanning with AVG isn't thorough enough. Defragmenting has nothing to do
with your issues.

So, here are some things to try:

A. Malware scanning

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware

Be thorough and do all the prep work. If the machine is extremely infected,
back up your data and restore to factory condition. Refer to your owner's
manual or the tech support website to see how to do that.

B. If you do the thorough work from A. above and determine that truly the
machine is not infected, back up your data and:

1. First try a System Restore to when things worked.

2. If System Restore doesn't work, run the System File Checker:

a. Start Orb>Search box>type: cmd [when cmd appears above, right-click it
and choose "Run as administrator"].

b. At the command prompt, type:
sfc /scannow [enter]

3. If #1 and #2 don't work, then you can try repairing the system by doing
an "upgrade" install. Here is MVP John Barnett's page about doing that:

Repair A Vista Installation Using The Upgrade Option Of The Vista DVD -
http://tinyurl.com/3b7yrj

4. If nothing works, back up your data and do a restore to factory condition
and start over.

Standard disclaimer: I can't see and test your computer myself, so these are
just suggestions based on many years of being a professional computer tech;
suggestions based on what you've written. You should not take my
suggestions as a definitive diagnosis. If you can't do the work yourself
(and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the
machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent
of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops
are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be
so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. If possible, have
all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.
