Remote desktop causes taskbar problems

I have no problem using the remote desktop connection on my vista platform,
but after disconnecting I frequently find my taskbar, quicklaunch and startup
menu are all screwy. First my clock disappears, then my minimized program
buttons slide off to the left and bring up the wrong programs when clicked,
then my start menu doesn't function. My resolution is to alt+ctrl+del and
log off. When I log back on everything is fine.

I would appreciated any assistance you could provide.
