Printer - Lexmark Z500-600 series

I have a Dell computer with Windows Vista Home Premium and Inspiron 530.
Whenever I need to print anything I have to go the the Options in the Printer
Window and change from "envelope" to "paper" and "landscape" to "portrait."
Despite clicking on the "apply" button, I have to do the same every single
time I need to print something. How can I get it to stay on "paper" and
"landscape?"

Is a Vista compatible driver for this machine installed?

The defaults for the printer have been changed. To reset them to whatever you desire, follow these simple steps:
  1. Close all open programs
  2. Click the Start Orb, then click Printers
  3. Right-click on your default printer, then select Properties
  4. Adjust the appropriate properties for the printer to what you want them to be.
  5. Click Apply
  6. Click OK
The next time you open a program, and attempt to print, it should default to whatever settings you applied above. The key to remember is that if you adjust the printer properties from with a program (such as Word or Notepad) prior to printing, the changes are specific to that program session only. If you change the properties from within the Printers control panel, then the settings should be set a defaults for all programs, even across reboots.

I say should, because not all printer manufacturers write the most stable drivers, and Lexmark is no exception.
